One day at a time
One day at a time, 2021, acrylic painting, depicts a woman who took on several new professional and domestic roles of teacher, housewife, driver and cook during the COVID-19 lockdown. She reflects on how family spaces were transformed into professional spaces, including scientific laboratories, and on the continued challenges of surviving in a male-dominated world. Gabriela reminds us that it is not necessary to solve all problems at the same time just because she is a woman and rather suggests that we all take it “one day at a time”.
Gabriela Miño Castro is a biotechnology engineer from Quito, Ecuador, who is currently working on the genetic transformation of plants in the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory at the Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas ESPE.
